Hiccups are all about breathing. Your diaphragm is the main muscle involved in breathing. The best remedies usually involve trying to get your breathing back on track. Some breathing based remedies include: holding your breath for as long as you can; breathing into a paper bag for several minutes; diaphragmatic breathing exercises (breathing deeply into your belly). You can also try and interrupt your breathing by hugging your knees to your chest. This will cause your diaphragm to contract and “reset” itself.
