10. Corpse Pose
Savasana (a.k.a. “Corpse Pose”) may seem like the easiest pose in yoga, but it actually might be the hardest. That’s why it’s great to start getting the feel of this pose early in your practice. This is the time in your practice where you take the time to fully relax every muscle in your body – every fiber from your toes to your tongue – and focus your mind on nothing. So, what’s so hard about just lying on the floor for five minutes? It can be very challenging to void your mind and fully relax your body, but it’s the best way to tie together the spiritual and mental practice of yoga, with the physical. If thoughts pop into your mind, don’t feel bad, just let them go and try again.
