4. Cryptocurrency’s Value

Like any currency, cryptocurrency’s value has had a radical fluctuation throughout the past decade. When bitcoin launched in 2009, its value was essentially non-existent. This isn’t too surprising considering the masses probably had no idea what it was or how it worked. In 2010, the first bitcoin market started (appropriately named “BitcoinMarket”) where users could first exchange their bitcoin – at this point, the value of 1 bitcoin was approximately $0.003 USD. Bitcoin hit some notable value milestones between 2010 and now: February 2011 it reached $1 USD, in June 2013 it hit $100 USD, between 2013 and 2017 it fluctuated between the low hundreds and $1,000 USD. Finally, in December 2017, its value peaked at $19,800 USD (per 1 bitcoin!)
