How To Tie a Tie

9. The Shelby

The Shelby knot, also called the Pratt knot, is a more modern, version of tying a necktie; popularized in the 1950s by Jerry Pratt and Don Shelby, who wanted to shake things up. To tie the Shelby-Pratt knot, start by crossing the wide end under the skinny end, right to left. Next, wrap the wide end over the left portion of the neck loop, bringing it over and across the skinny portion. Bring it around and under the right portion of the neck loop and pull it down through the knot loop. Tighten as desired!
