How To Tie a Tie

8. The Four-in-Hand

The Four-in-Hand is another great, simple knot for beginners. The knot won’t be an even triangle like the Windsors, but it will be much easier to master. To tie the Four-in-Hand, you’re going to start the knot similarly to the Simple knot. But instead you’re going to bring the wider end over the skinny end behind it. Do another full rotation with the wide end until you end up behind the skinny end again. Pull the wide end up and over, and then down through the loop you created. Pull it as snugly as you need.
