5. Be Engaging
Your cover letter should not read like a business report. It should engage the reader and keep them engaged throughout the whole letter. The best way to do this is to use clear language; don’t try to be too wordy because that can be very tiring to read, and it doesn’t necessarily communicate who you are. Use clear paragraphs – three should suffice. Like with a resume, don’t be afraid of white space along the margins and above and below your written content. Having a clutter-free cover letter can be very appealing to the reader!
